Expert-Grup presented the conclusions and recommendations of its independent evaluation report on the pilot of the 2024 Population and Housing Census in the Republic of Moldova

Between July and October 2023, Expert-Grup acted as an independent observer of the trial census, covering questionnaires, staff recruitment and training, tablet and application testing, and public information. Staff training was judged very good, though enumerators asked for more practical sessions. Recommendations included clearer pay conditions, testing all tablets, correcting application controls, an IT audit and penetration and stress tests.

Given the high risk of disinformation, the report urged a stronger information campaign beyond the National Bureau of Statistics, coordinated with other institutions and free of politicisation. Common myths were debunked, such as fines for absent respondents. Enumeration runs from 8 April to 7 July, collected face-to-face on tablets for the first time. Officials urged public institutions, opinion leaders and citizens to support participation.
