Call for applications: selection of a video producer

Three videos presenting three case studies on the costs and implications of corruption. The three videos will document 3 case studies related to public procurement, the use of public money and property, state-owned enterprises and public services. The materials will be part of a larger project launched by the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” - the Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Course (https://www.expert-grup.org/ro/resurse/anticoruptie). The video reports will each last 7-10 minutes. Deadline for delivery of the products: 15 September 2020.

General context:

Since April 2019, Expert-Grup, the National Anticorruption Centre and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, with the financial support of the Open Society Foundations and the Soros Foundation-Moldova, have been implementing a project focused on delivering an optional university course on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.

The aim of the project is to raise the level of information, awareness and capacity of students, journalists and opinion leaders regarding the phenomenon of corruption and its consequences in all sectors of the economy, through an interdisciplinary academic course integrated into the curriculum of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and open to students from all universities in Moldova, as well as to other relevant stakeholders (journalists, bloggers, opinion leaders, etc.).

The project targets three distinct groups: (i) university students; (ii) journalists, especially those focused on anti-corruption issues; and (iii) opinion leaders (for example, bloggers, civic activists, etc.). At the same time,  we aim to produce three media products, with the general theme of how corruption affects citizens’ everyday lives, coordinated by the project team, which will change the “technical” discourse of the topics discussed during the University Anti-Corruption Course and present it in plain language aimed at a wider audience, not only the beneficiaries of the course.

Minimum requirements for candidates:

• Three years of experience in video production;
• Five years of experience in investigative journalism;
• Three years of experience in documenting and presenting corruption cases; 
• Own video and lighting equipment.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a portfolio showing previously produced videos (including links), the concepts of the 3 case studies they will document, and the total gross fee (all taxes included) they request for developing and publishing the materials.
