Press Club: “Bond... Eurobond: What Are the Prospects for Eurobond Issuance by the Republic of Moldova?”

The purpose of the press club is to present and discuss the topic of Eurobonds and credit ratings and to answer all journalists' questions on this topic; we also aim to reduce the reluctance among citizens regarding the issuance of a sovereign Eurobond. 

Context

The Republic of Moldova is the only country in Europe, and one of the few in the world, that has not issued a sovereign Eurobond. This absence from international financial markets limits visibility among investor circles. The topic of the Eurobond has rarely been addressed in the public space over the past 10 years, and the authorities have shown only modest interest in it. Nevertheless, over the past 2-3 years civil society and some senior officials have made attempts to convince the population of the need for a sovereign Eurobond. Although the financial market is not yet ready to absorb a Eurobond issued by the Republic of Moldova, this could change in the coming quarters. For this reason, steps need to be taken to prepare the Republic of Moldova for a possible issuance and to enter the market when conditions are favourable.
