Press Club – “Assessing the Republic of Moldova’s Progress in Implementing the European Commission’s Recommendations in the Field of Justice in the Context of the European Union Accession Process”

The purpose of the press club is to discuss with media representatives the dynamics of the reforms carried out by the Government in implementing the fundamental chapters of the accession process that concern the field of justice. We will discuss the main achievements, constraints, priorities and next steps in implementing the European Commission’s recommendations in the context of our country’s European Union accession process.

Context: Following the Republic of Moldova’s obtaining of candidate country status for accession to the European Union, the European Commission published, in November 2023, the detailed Report on Moldova on progress, challenges and recommendations for the EU accession process. The report covered all the chapters of the EU Acquis that Chișinău and Brussels are to negotiate within the accession negotiations, including specific recommendations for each chapter, which derive from the main challenges identified by the Commission. In this regard, the team of experts from Expert-Grup, IPRE, CJI, Promo-LEX and CNSM  prepared an independent monitoring report that assesses how the authorities of the Republic of Moldova have taken into account the Commission’s recommendations under the chapters of the “Fundamentals” cluster of the accession process.
