National Conference Economic Year 2011: European Integration and Domestic Reforms

The Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” held the national conference “Economic Year 2011: European Integration and Domestic Reforms” today. It discussed the most important aspects of the 2011 economic year, the forecast of key indicators and policy recommendations for building a new model of economic growth.

The conference presented the new edition of the Moldova Economic Growth Analysis publication – MEGA, which analyses the evolution of the Moldovan economy in 2010, explains the main macroeconomic and sectoral trends and offers a forecast of the main economic indicators for 2011.
 
The report covers a broad range of topics: from economic governance to GDP and the real economy, to households and the labour market, to the financial and monetary sectors, ending with developments in foreign trade and global markets. As MEGA illustrates, the AEI Government faced the difficult task of governing the country under major economic, financial, institutional, political and geopolitical constraints.
 
The following studies were also presented at the event:
  • Simulation of the impact of a new embargo by the Russian Federation on alcoholic products
  • Simulation of the impact of the Free Trade Agreement on the agro-industrial sector
  • Simulation of the economic impact of the liberalisation of the visa regime with the European Union

The documents were prepared in collaboration with economic experts from the Institute for Global Economy and are based on the CGE (Computable General Equilibrium) economic simulation model.
