The “My School” Initiative Invites You to the Workshop “Budgeting in Education”

Expert-Grup is organising a workshop on the Medium-Term Budgetary Framework in education, focused on primary, lower secondary and upper secondary education.

The event is part of the project “My School – involvement starts here”, a series of activities meant to bring transparency by creating an understanding of the budget process and the flow of money in education.

For the national education budget to match the realities on the ground, it is necessary to understand school budgets, as well as the total education budget at the level of all the stakeholders involved. It is also welcome for citizens to get involved in the budget process and bring development priorities from the local level to the national level, in order to solve problems and improve the quality of educational services.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn about methods of involvement and will explain the money in education in terms everyone can understand.

Since 2014, “My School” has organised over 40 public hearings on the budgets of the schools involved in the project, where school expenditure and budget planning were presented, alongside development priorities, so that budgets also represent the interests of pupils and parents. These hearings produced hundreds of proposals for solving school problems, which were subsequently brought to the attention of the authorities. Examples of success include some material benefits, such as: the purchase of interactive whiteboards for schools; the repair of sanitary facilities; the construction of fences around school yards; the launch of buffet-style canteens in schools, and others. At the same time, the results included increased community involvement in school life, an improved dialogue between school, community and authorities, etc.

Details about the most recent workshop can be found here.

Therefore, we invite all those interested to register for the workshop by completing the form below. Participation is free of charge.
