Invitation, press conference: “The first municipal bond issues in the Republic of Moldova – contracting the financial intermediary”

CONTEXT

The Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” provides support to three city halls in the Republic of Moldova – the City Hall of Sîngera, the City Hall of Ceadîr-Lunga municipality and the City Hall of Chișinău municipality – in the process of issuing municipal bonds for the first time in our country, under the project: “Local government bonds as a measure to increase local autonomy”, implemented with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chișinău. 

To date, the three beneficiary city halls have submitted the investment projects to be financed from the resources obtained through the bond issue, and two of them – the City Hall of Sîngera and the City Hall of Ceadîr-Lunga municipality – have already completed the stage of selecting the financial intermediary through an open competition and contracting it (the City Hall of Chișinău municipality, for its part, is at the stage of conducting the competition to select the financial intermediary). 

In this context, we invite you on 29 April, at 11:00, to a press conference at which the mayors of Sîngera and Ceadîr-Lunga municipality, Valeriu Popa and Anatolii Topal respectively, will speak about the local projects they will carry out following the bond issue, while the representatives of the selected financial intermediary – B.C. “Victoriabank” S.A. – will present the issuing process and the next stages of cooperation with the two city halls to ensure successful issues.

Representatives of the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Finance, the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM) and the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) will also speak at the press conference.
