Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area is the next stage this country must go through after joining the European Union in January 2007, and the consequences of this accession could have multiple effects for the Republic of Moldova. Denis Cenuşă, an independent expert, presented the study from three perspectives: political, economic and social. The presentation highlighted issues that arouse the curiosity of most of Moldova’s population. How accessible will Schengen visas become for Moldovan citizens? What costs will Moldova bear in the event of this accession? Could accession reduce Moldovans’ interest in Romania?

The study aroused the interest of the Parliamentary Committee, which came up with suggestions, comments and also objections regarding the analysis carried out.

The public presentation of the study took place on 9 November 2011, in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
