Presentation of the Results Achieved by the Republic of Moldova in the Open Budget Survey 2021

The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”, invites you to the event presenting the Open Budget Survey 2021.

The purpose of the event is to present the results achieved by the Republic of Moldova in the Open Budget Survey (Open Budget Survey). The analysis is the world’s only independent, comparative and fact-based research instrument; it uses internationally accepted criteria to assess public access to information on the national budget, the public’s formal opportunities to participate in the national budget process, and the role of budget oversight institutions – such as the Legislature and the supreme audit institution – in the budget process.

The survey helps civil society to assess, and to discuss with its government, the use of public funds and the reporting thereon. The 8th edition of the OBS covers 120 countries. The Republic of Moldova has officially participated in the Open Budget Survey since 2017. Only documents published and events, activities or developments that took place up to 31 December 2020 were assessed in OBS 2021, as this is a biennial survey.

The survey is based on a questionnaire completed in each country by an independent budget expert from the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”. To further strengthen the research, the draft questionnaire of each country was also reviewed by a representative of the Ministry of Finance. Likewise, the event will discuss the recommendations reflected in the analysis, which aim to increase the level of citizen participation, improve the transparency of the budget process in the Republic of Moldova and improve budget oversight capacity.

The event can be followed LIVE on Privesc.Eu and on the Facebook page of Expert-Grup
