Online Workshop No. 5 for the Expert Community: “Countering Disinformation in Moldova – Specialist Insights from Experts from Ukraine and Lithuania”

The Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”, in collaboration with the Eastern Europe Studies Centre in Vilnius, is pleased to invite the expert community to take part in an online workshop dedicated to countering disinformation in Moldova and to sharing valuable insights from high-level experts from Ukraine and Lithuania. It is part of the project “Building Strategic Communication to Counter Russian Disinformation in Moldova”.
The online event will take place on 19 July, from 12:00 to 14:30. It is part of a series of six workshops in which specialised experts from Moldova, Lithuania and EU agencies will share their knowledge with journalists, stakeholders and the expert community within the “Platform for Strategic Communication to Counter Russian Disinformation in Moldova”.
Topics: the first session of the online workshop will explore topics related to organising crowdfunding campaigns, offering specific examples to illustrate effective strategies and dynamics. In addition, the successful methods, tools and mechanisms used in Lithuania will be discussed, presented as best practices for Moldovan journalists and activists to adopt in their crowdfunding efforts. The second session of the online workshop will focus on strengthening civil society, highlighting effective approaches and case studies from Lithuania.
Speakers: at the event, the Moldovan expert community will have the opportunity to interact with Mr Jonas Ohman, founder of Blue/Yellow, and with Mr Vytis Jurkonis, project director at Freedom House. Jonas Ohman has received ten awards for his actions in Ukraine from armed forces units, ministries and the presidencies of Ukraine and Lithuania. He is the only foreigner to have received the medal for the “Defence of Avdiivka”. Vytis Jurkonis is also a project director at Freedom House and heads its Vilnius office; he is one of the key figures in supporting the Belarusian opposition in Lithuania
Working language: the workshop discussion will be held in English.
