MACRO stands for „Moldova: Assessing Country Risks and Opportunities”. The conference has been conceived as an annual event bringing together domestic and international policy experts and thinkers with the key purpose of discussing and advancing innovative ideas to support Moldova along its way of economic development and modernization. 

In the 2021 Republic of Moldova marks the 30th Anniversary of Independence.  The 9th edition of the MACRO Annual International Conference: ”The Republic of Moldova after 30 years of independence. Key conclusions and ways forward to sustainability”, will discuss the key conclusions and lessons learned from 30 years of independence of the state, with a focus on key successes and failures, missed and future opportunities, and the country priorities for enhancing the economic, social and governance systems.  

The MACRO Annual International Conference is not a stand-alone event, but rather a logical component of the “Moldova 2021: State of the Country Report” process. Thus, the MACRO 2021 will present and discuss the key findings and recommendations of the 2021 edition of the State of the Country Report, which presents among traditional chapters a retrospective analysis of Moldova’s 30 year period of independence from the point of view of the key economic, social and political developments. The report looked also at the recommendations formulated in the previous SCRs and the level of their implementation over time. 

The MACRO 2021 International Conference will take place online, via Zoom.us platform, on the 23rd of November 2021, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm (Chisinau time). The event will be attended by political leaders, policymakers, representatives of local governments and the private sector, local and foreign experts, representatives of CSOs and academia in Moldova.
