Event organized in partnership by the "Expert-Grup" Think Tank and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Moldova

MACRO stands for „Moldova: Assessing Country Risks and Opportunities”. The conference has been conceived as an annual event bringing together domestic and international policy experts and thinkers with the key purpose of discussing and advancing innovative ideas to support Moldova along its way of economic development and modernization. 

Context:

The MACRO Annual International Conference is not a stand-alone event, but rather a logical component of the “Moldova 2023: State of the Country Report” process. Thus, the MACRO 2023 will present and discuss the key findings and recommendations of the 2023 edition of the State of the Country Report, developed by the “Expert-Grup” Independent Think-Tank in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Moldova (FES). The Report presents an analysis of the main trends and developments related to private sector, households and governance, as well as a special topic that addresses how the economic potential and the resilience of the national economy can be increased.

Goal

The goal of the 11th edition of MACRO Annual International Conference is to discuss the macroeconomic situation of the Republic of Moldova: the current state, forecasts and how to boost economic growth in the context of European integration. Transformation of labour from a constraint into a source of economic growth, by identifying solutions to alleviate labour shortages and increase labour productivity will be brought into discussion as one of the key topics of MACRO 2023.

Objectives

The event has 3 key objectives:

  1. Discussing global, regional and domestic economic and social trends and defining their implications for the Republic of Moldova, including risks and opportunities.
  2. Presentation and debate of the main findings and recommendations of the State of the Country Report carried out by the Expert Group in partnership with the "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation.
  3. Raising awareness among national and international actors regarding development priorities, and generating a favorable framework for aligning private, public and donor investment priorities

Target audience

  • Representatives of the private sector from the Republic of Moldova and abroad;
  • Social partners: unions, employers;
  • NGOs and the academic environment in Moldova;
  • mass media;
  • Community of donors/embassies/IFIs;
  • Foreign experts and international academia.
